Thermage CPT is a non-invasive treatment that uses radio frequency energy to tighten and strengthen sagging skin and aims to improve elasticity to firm skin without damaging the outer layers of skin. Through heat Thermage causes contraction of existing collagen fibres and stimulation of new and stronger collagen production. The result is a lifting and firming of the skin as the deeper layers are rejuvenated, giving it a more refined contour – smoother skin, softened lines and wrinkles and an overall younger appearance.
• Lax facial skin, such as upper and lower eyelids
• Turkey neck
• Saggy buttocks, thighs and lower abdomen
• Baggy knees
• Loose skin on the hands and upper arms
During the treatment session which can take from 1.5 hours to 2 hours a handheld device is pressed against each portion of the skin to be treated, sending heat to the deeper layers. To be truly effective, a high setting must be used to drive the radio frequency energy as deep as possible into the skin, and so to minimise the pain this would cause, a special cooling system is blows cool air onto the skin. Oral medication can be administered prior to the procedure to minimise any discomfort. You will notice your skin feels tighter, smoother and more youthful. Over time you will normally see additional improvement in your skin. During treatment of Thermage you will experience a sensation of deep heat similar to a warm to hot pin prick which will last only for a few seconds. The ongoing effects of the Thermage are a gradual collagen tightening and production of new collagen that continues over the next 6 months. This results in healthier, smooth skin and a more youthful appearance.
How long will my recovery be and what can I expect?
Thermage is a non-invasive treatment therefore there is almost no recovery time. Following the treatment your skin may be a little red, but most people resume their regular activities straightaway. There is no special after care needed. Klara make up can be applied immediately after the treatment to cover any traces of treatment.
Thermage does not stop the aging process it promotes collagen to prevent the signs of aging.
