Left is a patient who presented at enRich clinic following IPL hair laser removal at another clinic. This patient was burnt and left scarred with no advice on how to manage his skin. Dr Rich and his team were able to educate and provide appropriate care on how to manage this issue as well as treatments to minimise the scarring.

A current affair published a story of a young girl who suffered from burns following an IPL treatment. IPL is a powerful device and when poorly used treatment can lead to burns, hyper-pigmentation, hypo-pigmentation, eye injury, scars and simple lack of results. Most complication can be managed and often resolved if appropriate medical advice is available.

Dr Rich is asked to manage many patients who have suffered from burns and skin discolouration at other clinics due to inexperienced staff operating high powered machines with little knowledge and training.  Dr Rich would like you to ask the question “what happens if I have a burn here  - who looks after me? If your not happy turn around and seek another option.

Here at the enRich Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery Centre we have three different types of laser hair removal. The Photogenica Apogee(Alexandrite), LightSheer and the new Excel-V laser which offer a safe, long-term solution for unwanted hair without the side effects of other methods.

  • The LPIR (Alexandrite) Laser (fair to olive skins with fine to coarse hair)

This laser works by emitting pulses of intense light into the hair follicles. The laser targets the melanin (pigment) in the follicles, which is then converted to heat. It is this heat and light that destroys the hair at the root. The laser is pulsed (turned on) for only half a second and the duration of each pulse is just long enough to disable the root of the hair but not long enough to cause excess heat damage to the skin.

  • Light Sheer (fair-olive skin, safer for darker skin types)

This laser has a dramatically increased spot size 22x35mm making this a quick and effective laser for larger areas. The HS hand piece uses vacuum technology to lift the skin allowing for greater depth of penetration.

  • Excel-V

Scott Davenport the creator of the Gemini laser, has 10years later come out with a new multi-purpose laser. One of its many functions is hair removal (also when using this setting helps minimize underlying redness). The purpose of the treatment is to selectively treat the hair follicle without causing thermal damages to the surrounding tissue. The laser light is absorbed by melanin, which targets the (chromophore) in hair. The light is converted to heat. Heat damages the bulge and bulb, disabling the hair structure and stops hair growth.

Here at the enRich clinic we only have professional trained medical professionals operating the hair removal lasers under the care of an on site doctor. Our nurse specialists offer a reliable, safe and quality treatment.
